So guys the last I left you, we had lots of big Ideas for the nursery, fabrics, paint, furniture, and overall colors. Well this is what we have so far.....
Crib, Dresser/Changing table, Lamp, and Glider
We also bought these curtain rods from target
Which we are working on hanging this weekend :)
We still need to install a closet organizer, design and hang some fun nursery prints, design and hang a great mobile in the corner by the crib, hang the curtains, and generally make it homey.
In celebration of our soon to be completed nursery, I have a month of giveaways I want to share with all of you. I recently went to the Big City Moms - Baby Shower here in Miami.
Me and mom had a blast we got to try all kinds of great new products, munch on some yummy goodies, drink some mocktails. Not to mention we got to hear lectures from Dr. Sears himself and other wonderful presenters.
We walked away with two swag bags from the event itself, but also won three more bags of goodies in their bingo game! So I plan on showering all you lovely readers with all the additional items we received :)
The first giveaway will start May 4th, I will then give you the details and rules. I'm so excited!
Since, as I mentioned we are on budget this pregnancy, I've been SUPER conservative about my clothing and purchases. One of sites I just found out about was www.Rentmaternitywear.com
Wow, so glad I found this site. I had been stressing about buying something nice to wear for the baby shower. And finally, I found this site. You can rent the dress for one or two weeks and you get two sizes just to be sure you get one that fits. You have a 48 hour try on period to try on the dress and return it with FREE shipping for the first try on, should you decide the style is not for you. And no need to dryclean, when you are done just drop it in the bag and place it in your mailbox and return it. What a great idea, especially for a dress you might only wear once.
Here are some of my favs.....
Go and check them out, pin them for the future or for right now!
And....... the reason I have had an extended break from our little home life blog, has been this
We are unbelievably excited, I had given up hope, having gone through 4 miscarriages. I had decided that I would take time to take care of myself, I started watching what I ate, working out, lost 10 pounds, even went and had some acupuncture, and was feeling great on the herbs the doctor had given me. Then, one morning I woke up bloated and feeling strange, I brushed it off and ended up feeling like that for a whole week.
Then, one Saturday while purging our bathroom closets, I came accross a pregnancy test from 3 months earlier. And I thought to myself, "No Way!" "You are just being silly!" Well I sat down and took it. and immediately 2 pink lines popped up. I nearly passed out! I started crying and got down and prayed to god thanking him for his surprise blessing! And then I screamed for the hubs to run upstairs. He was all smiles :)
I currently 27 weeks, and although I had a pretty rough start, hypermesis, a fit a tachicardia, and some irritated galbladder pains, me and baby are just right. Im getting excited about our new little boy! And although things are tighter than they where, we are making things work. We have cut back and scrimped, and are saving as much as possible.
I've bought the little cookie monster his crib from Ikea, and my mom gifted us the dresser that we will also use as the changing table, and we had the stroller, pack and play, and the car seat in the garage just incase. My maternity clothes where all bought with gift certificates from Christmas so no cost there thus far. And Im my good friend Melisa and my mom are throwing me a sprinkle for the little things we need, like the shower tub, cloth diapers, swaddle blankets, cloth wipes and towel.
Things have been ok for the hubs at his job, we made it through two rounds of layoffs and two separate pay reductions. But we are alive and well. Im trying to do as much as possible to save and not buy anything new other than the crib for the baby, so I will probably be posting and asking you all for your thrifty advice.
Heres a little mood board I made in paint with the chair we already owned, and throw pillow, as well as the crib we bought, and the dresser gifted to us. We painted the walls a light silvery grey. Im gathering fabrics to see what will look good, block the sun, and I can get with some 50% coupons....hehehe Give me your feedback. I would love it!
Just wanted to stop by and give my followers a little update. We haven't been posting much lately, as we are facing some difficult times.
Hottie Hubby works for the county here and a new mayor was voted in. This new mayor has made it his mission to cut the current 50 departments down to 25. My honey has been working there since high school. Its all he has known. And now we are told to start searching for a new job, and putting his resume together. This all wouldn't be so bad, if it wasn't for the fact that I had been laid off (position eliminated) back in February of 2010. We cut back, sold the house we where living in and moved to a bigger, less expensive home. Things have been tight but manageable. I have been searching all the while fort something part time to help with extra income. But still nothing. And now this.
I'm really upset and I know the hubs is down about this. So we are devoting all our time to finding him a good place to be. And also putting more effort into finding something for myself. The only thing that kills me, is putting little man in a preschool so young, we where hoping to not have to until he was 4. The good ones are all private schools, and expensive or very very far from where we live.
I dont want to dump all this on you couple of faithful followers, but part of the reason for this blog was for fears, hopes, joys, successes, and bumps in the road to be able to released. So we are on hiatus. But hopefully I will be back now and again to post something inspirational or crafty.
